Henry David Thoreau - PBS Documentary

The new Ken Burns produced documentary, Henry David Thoreau, is a great watch. I’m something of a Thoreau “super fan”, so my opinion may be a little suspect, but my wife certainly came at this documentary with no preconceived opinions on the subject. If anything, you might say that Katie was humoring me by agreeing to watch an episode. But watch it she did, and then the two other episodes of this three part series. Not only did she enjoy it, but she asked to borrow one of my Thoreau books.

The series is a nice overview of the great man’s life. It covers the highlight reel from youth to death, and gives a good deal of context on the age he was living through, its political concerns and the rapid industrialization it was experiencing. Very much a recommended watch.
